CPUT Opening Camp 2007 (Cape Town Campus)

by Mkateko & Tlangelani Mkhatshwa

It was on a Friday evening on the 9th of February 2007, after a week of anticipation, the day finally came. This was the day of great joy and it was an orientation camp. The rain threatened to spoil our weekend; people staring at each other for answers are we still going? Well with the grace of God our transport came and off we went to Simons town. The road trip was long but was shortened by the people singing God praises. Then we arrived at the camp site, you will be surprised how many bags people had. I even thought maybe I was at the wrong camp; it took us about an hour to offload everything (Bags, food, instruments…). We kicked off the camp with an interesting introduction, in that way we all knew each other from the start of the camp. Rain didn’t stop us from having a great Friday.

Our theme for the camp was “to bring liberty to all nations,” we had an in-depth discussion about the topic. Pastor Mncedisi from “Langa Christian Centre” was a speaker for a weekend and God really worked through Him. We went back to the history of SCO with Motseki Sosibo the National administrator, I thought it was going to be boring but it was not. We had great time and our lives were transformed. By the way the food was great! I didn’t know that I could eat so much although I think after the camp most of us gained weight.
